Responsibilities
Partial Job Description
1) Direct strategic planning and the development of goals, objectives and policies for the Quality Group
2) Determine group structure
3) Ensure the development of talent for leadership roles
4) Plan talent succession for quality
5) Oversee and coordinate the implementation of the strategic quality initiatives for the site in collaboration with VP North America, Quality and VP Operations
6) Coordinate the forecasting process for required business statistics/information and reporting and the operational/expense budget and capital budget
7) Review monthly budget performance and control staffing/headcount
8) Review departmental business operations/strategies and evaluate possible integration of new tools and technology to increase departmental efficiencies and effectiveness
9) Establish policies and ensure procedures are in place to fulfill policies
10) Ensure systems are set up to control the process
11) Ensure polices are implemented, procedures are followed and that all Quality employees perform required duties in a manner that ensures compliance with all applicable guidelines, cGMPs, SOPs and company policies and procedures
12) Stay current with state of the art standards for the industry
13) Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications / Skills Required
1) Master of Science in a scientific field (preferred)
2) Minimum 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical quality
3) Knowledge of all applicable regulated agencies that govern the industry to include North American guidelines on GMP and any associated health authority within the region
4) Expert-level knowledge of quality practices, processes and procedures
5) Ability to read and interpret comprehensive and intricate research documents as well as ability to write scientific reports and technical correspondence
6) Ability to work with executives and communicate abstract concepts
7) Ability to present to a high level of the organization and groups outside of the organization
8) Ability to solve problems with complex variables through non-standardized solutions that require independent judgment and analysis
9) Ability to draw inferences and use deductive reasoning with no prescribed procedures to solve complex problems
10) Ability to make decisions that affect the success of the group and the company
11) Ability to make final decisions on operational issues affecting the functional activities of quality
12) Excellent leadership skills that encompass visionary, planning, analytical, strategic, critical and systems thinking skills, communication, persuasion and influencing skills as well as problem-solving and decision-making skills
13) Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Lotus Notes
14) Advanced math skills
