| Responsibilities |
1) Operate the Statistics and SAS Programming Department 2) Develop and review proposals for statistical services, prepare and monitor department and project budgets, forecast staffing utilization and revenue 3) Prepare and deliver sales presentations and conduct client relation meetings 4) Establish the scope and timing of statistics project activities and prepare cost estimates and monthly billing reports 5) Serve as the chief statistical authority within the company and complete key elements of statistical projects 6) Work closely with the Data Management Division to develop and implement strategic initiatives to support company goals for growth and profitability 7) Develop and direct a group of statisticians and statistical programmers to create statistical analysis plans and analysis dataset documentation 8) Create table and listing shells, create table, listing and figure programs, program and QC tables and listings 9) Perform statistical analysis and deliver final output to clients 10) Oversee all activities of the statistics and SAS Programming groups 11) Forecast staffing resources and department deliverables 12) Perform revenue forecasts, update budgets and maintain budget oversight 13) Recruit, hire, train and develop statistical and programming staff 14) Perform performance evaluations for direct reports 15) Identify and implement strategic business initiatives 16) Support business development activities 17) Identify and implement key process improvements, review and approve department Standard Operating Procedures 18) Update executive management regarding department activities and needs 19) Coordinate project completion with the Data Management and SAS Programming groups 20) Perform and oversee statistical project work 21) Ensure cooperation with FDA/industry task forces on biostatistics issues 22) Advise in preparing FDA and other panel meetings and presentations 23) Establish department budget 24) Advise teams for regulatory (e.g., FDA, PMDA) reviews, responses and interactions 25) Approve all department expenditures 26) Direct staff in all statistical and programming activities 27) Make hiring and termination decisions within the SAS and stat groups 28) Deliver accurate statistical output for all projects 29) Forecast resource needs and department revenue as well as meet department profitability goals 30) Identify and implement initiatives to support company objectives |
| Requirements |
1) Ph. D. in Statistics or a related field 2) Minimum 8 – 10 years of experience as a Statistician analyzing data from clinical trials with 3 – 5 years in managing statistical, programming and/or scientific staff 3) Experience in a client service-related environment 4) Experience in NDA, PMA and IDE submissions 5) Demonstrated knowledge of statistical theory and practice 6) Background in planning and conducting scientific research 7) Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects 8) Statistical programming expertise (SAS preferred) 9) Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 10) Strong problem-solving and organizational skills 11) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, or related programs |
