| Responsibilities |
1) Supervise clinical laboratory personnel 2) Provide training to Lab personnel on new protocols and universal precautions 3) Collect and process biological specimens including blood, urine, feces according to SOPs, GCPs and study protocols 4) Perform venipuncture as needed 5) Maintain laboratory supplies 6) Label tubes, prepare study racks and check quality of tubes and racks 7) Send inventory as well as package and ship samples to other laboratories 8) Process, examine and analyze blood, body fluids and cells by manual methods and automated equipment, including WBC differential, semen analysis, gram stains and cell counts 9) Prepare specimens for microscopic examination, count cells and look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids 10) Maintain and use microscopes, cell counters and other laboratory equipment 11) Use automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing a number of tests simultaneously 12) Test and examine a specimen, analyze the results and relay them to the investigator and/or sponsor 13) Make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples, to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms 14) Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures as well as establish and monitor programs to ensure the accuracy of tests 15) Maintain and calibrate automated analyzers, laboratory equipment, freezers, refrigerators and microscopes 16) Interact with industry and government sponsors 17) Maintain quality controls of assays and equipment per CLIA guidelines 18) Participate in budgeting process for lab procedures in clinical trials |
| Requirements |
1) Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or in one of the life sciences along with BCLS certification 2) Experience in managing a CLIA certified lab 3) Knowledge of GCP and GLP (Medical Technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology)
4) Strong analytical judgment and the ability to work under pressure 5) High attention to detail in identifying small differences or changes in test substances or numerical readouts |
