Responsibilities
1) Preparation of experimental work-plan.
2) Development of SOPs and technology transfer documents.
3) Execution of experiments at laboratory scale.
4) Troubleshooting lab instrumentation issues.
5) Analysis of experimental data.
6) Extensive interaction with R&D, Process Development, Engineering and Operations.
7) Facility start-up support and maintenance.
8) Setting up and performing established analytical methods: enzyme assays, HPLC methods and routine laboratory tests.
Requirements
1) A MS degree in life-sciences from an accredited college/University with knowledge in fungal fermentation, fungal microbiology, and enzyme biochemistry.
2) Hands-on experience in lab-scale fermentation such as yeast and fungi.
3) Experience in performing biochemical assay is needed. Basic knowledge of enzymes and enzyme kinetics is preferred.
4) Must have operational knowledge of analytical equipments such as HPLC, spectrophotometer, electrophoresis, and basic biotechnology lab equipments.
5) Industrial research and fermentation process development experience is a plus.
6) Expertise in chemical and biochemical analyses of biomass and its constituents to assist with the development of cellulosic biofuel technologies is desired.
7) Laboratory experience with sterile fermentation methods.
8) Excellent oral and written communication skills.
9) Good mechanical aptitude with ability to trouble-shoot lab and process equipments.
10) Ability to work in a multi-tasking team and fast-pace environment.
11) Work with DSM safety standards and with demonstrated attention to detail.
12) Ability to multi-task and creatively adapt to a start-up environment with a capacity to meet tight deadlines.
13) A solid working knowledge of, and experience with common office software and ability to accurately document work using a computer.
14) Keep up to date with technical developments by literature awareness in biomass, biofuels and bioenergy areas.
