Responsibilities
General Summary:- The Oncology Research Nurse facilitates the implementation and activities of clinical trials for patients participating in pharmaceutical company, NCI Cooperative Group, In-house, and other network trials for Florida Hospital Cancer Institute physician investigators. Includes patient advocacy and education, education of other personnel, and marketing and promotion of the program. Ability to work independently, plans, coordinates, and helps oversee the process of the clinical trial. Follows study specific protocol guidelines, has excellent communication skills with investigators, hospital staff, sponsoring agencies and others to effectively perform clinical research and coordinate research activities.
1. Affiliated with UCLA and Duke University for clinical/investigational trials. Must be able to travel to such and other areas as mandated by research protocols
2. Demonstrates specialized knowledge of the unique needs of oncology patients undergoing treatment on cancer trials
3. Working knowledge of chemotherapy administration
4. Have personal qualities and interpersonal communication skills to interact and maintain good relationships with a broad spectrum of healthcare disciplines and the public under all circumstances
5. Detail oriented and teamwork skills required
6. Must be motivated, organized able to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner and work efficiently under pressure
7. Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple clinical trials and function independently
8. Critical thinker and possesses an analytical approach to problem solving
9. Able to perform diverse clinical and clerical duties
10. Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet skills
Requirements
1. Graduate of a school of nursing(BSN)
2. Minimum 6 years nursing experience and 3-5 current years in Oncology
3. Current Chemo Certification
4. Prior Research experience
5. Current valid nursing license in the State of Florida
6. Certification in Oncology nursing for RNs, OCN for those responsible for adult patients or CPON for those responsible for pediatric patients
7. Certificate from Clinical Research professional organization (i.e., SOCRA, ACRP)
8. Will pay for certifications for qualified applicants
