About our client
Our client is a 150 year old pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Philadelphia, PA. They specialize in vitamins, minerals, herbals, nutritional supplements (they are the country's leading supplier of calcium-based products) and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. Due to growth and expansion, our client is urgently seeking QC Supervisors with either HPLC or ICP experience to join their team. Quality Control Supervisor (HPLC) Philadelphia, PA
Salary

Responsibilities
1) Manage all group functions like scheduling, testing, calibrations, instrument maintenance, inventory control, training, methods development, validations and participated hiring
2) Supervise the day-to-day activities of the HPLC Analytical staff and plan work for the group to respond to changing priorities
3) Maintain a safe, orderly and compliant work area according to company safety standards and cGMP regulations. Position requires solid technical skills related to applied area
4) Assist with workload (as needed) and chemical analyses of various materials associated with the operation of the facility in accordance with customer and quality requirements
5) Conduct research, quantitative and qualitative analysis as well as experimentation on substances, for such purposes as raw material and finished product release and stability testing vs. compendial and in-house specifications, testing to support product and process development, analysis and improvement of analytical methodologies as directed by management
6) Devise new equipment as well as develop formulas, processes and methods for solution of technical problems under the direction of management
7) Utilize techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy as well as spectrophotometry and dissolution, including ICP and HPLC
8) Perform all necessary calibrations and follow preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and instrumentation
9) Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products
10) Perform calculations and prepare reports
11) Read, understand and interpret applicable compendia, specifications and methods
12) Maintain inventory of chemical supplies and equipment
13) Keep testing specifications current with applicable compendia and customer changes
14) Notify management of potential gaps in specifications
15) Perform any administrative duties required of the position including maintaining supply inventory and ordering of supplies
16) Flexibility to work in other groups as necessary.
17) Participate in hiring for the HPLC Group
18) Complete employee performance evaluations as needed
Requirements
1) 4-year Science degree
2) Prior management experience in GMP laboratory
3) Entry-level supervisory position with 1-5 years of previous supervisory experience
4) At least 5 years experience utilizing HPLC in a laboratory
5) Proven competence in area to be supervised with 2-5 years of technical experience
6) Excellent working knowledge of cGMP regulations for laboratory applications is required
7) Excellent teamwork and communication skills, attentive to detail, and good computer skills
8) Ability to take initiative, to be assertive, to lead by example, and to build relationships
9) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
10) Excellent analytical and organizational skills
11) Experience as a section head in a chemical laboratory desired
12) Knowledge of laboratory databases and computer applications used in a laboratory environment
