Position Location
Business Development Manager – CRO San Francisco – South of Market, California
Salary
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
1) Manage relationships with CROs, consultants and sell services through sales meetings, trade shows/conference attendance as well as organizing seminars
2) Handle business development/prospecting for new opportunities, qualification of leads
3) Conduct sales presentations, host demonstrations as well as handle identification and close sales opportunities
4) Manage new accounts/opportunities including routine contacts, discern service concerns and forecast future activity
5) Expand service offering and explore new opportunities within existing/new accounts
6) Identify CRO targets and management contacts
7) Provide a consultative sales approach by emphasizing value-added sales, service and financial savings
8) Oversee sales forecasting and reporting processes
9) Record contact information for customers and prospects
10) Conduct professional presentations through WebEx
11) Ensure accurate and timely communication of sales forecasts and activity
Requirements
1) BS in Life Sciences (MS or Ph. D. in Clinical Pharmacology, Biostatistics, Chemistry and Biochemistry or in a relevant field a plus)
2) 3+ years of CRO business development experience (both direct sales and sales management roles) selling to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academia, government and NGO industries
3) Minimum 3 years of successful experience in a quota-driven sales environment
4) Proven success in managing accounts and implementing programs
5) Experience in a key CRO/pharmaceutical operational function (e.g. data management, clinical operations, laboratory and pre-clinical)
6) Experience in dealing with people at all levels
7) Proven sales and management track record of business development within the clinical research sector
8) Ability to gather market intelligence and recognize market opportunities and willing to take risks when opportunity knocks
9) In-depth understanding of the entire drug development processes from IND through to all phases of clinical drug development
10) Knowledge of clinical study guidelines (FDA, ICH and GCP)
11) Good network of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and CMO industry contacts
12) Proficiency in computers/technology (MS Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project as well as other similar project management tools)
13) Expertise in online project management tools (WebEx, Basecamp)
14) Ability to build and manage customer relationships through a consultative sales approach
15) Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral)
16) Superb networking, influencing, negotiation, problem-solving, time management and account management skills
17) Dependable, flexible, detail-oriented and self-motivated along with the ability to be self-managed
18) Willingness to travel (up to 20%)
