| Responsibilities |
1) Establish and drive strategic direction for all research and development activities 2) Direct the investigation of new technologies and experiments (internally/externally) with Manufacturing, Sales, Finance and Regulatory Affairs Departments to determine the viability of scientific theories and processes 3) Drive development of new products from feasibility through to pre-production phase as well as foster an orderly transition of the development phase into manufacturing via the team approach and sound financial judgment 4) Serve as a technical liaison (internally) to senior management and externally with all strategic partners
5) Develop a world-class, highly motivated, results-oriented R&D team capable of
delivering products on time 6) Establish budgeting priorities and control spending 7) Determine internal technical capabilities and evaluate the need for additional resources for feasibility and development programs 8) Participate on a ‘hands-on’ basis with ongoing research and development projects in the company’s laboratory 9) Coordinate development activities being done in external facilities 10) Contribute to strategic planning process 11) Work closely with other departments to ensure best use of resources, rapid product development and orderly transition of products from feasibility to production 12) Contribute to corporate development and new product development efforts by participating in group meetings 13) Determine concept viability |
| Requirements |
1) Degree (4 year) in Life Science with a firm grasp on all related fields
2) Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a medical device company 3) Prior management experience (senior level preferred) 4) In-depth understanding of biological/non-biological implantable materials and compounds 5) Working knowledge of principles governing effective management of business functions 6) Superb understanding of all major issues associated to the biomedical device industry 7) Understanding of project management 8) Excellent research and communication skills 9) Ability to interface with all levels of personnel 10) Ability to interact with physicians and derive product concepts by listening carefully and implementing learned information 11) Ability to interface with other departments
