Senior Research and Development Project Engineer Atlanta, Georgia
Salary

Responsibilities
1) Oversee new product discovery, research and development and project management for women’s health business segment
2) Lead team for products in a client’s high-growth women’s health business segment
3) Interface with internal and inter-company employees, outside suppliers, contractors and physicians in a clinical as well as medical environment
4) Work with physicians to develop new and less invasive products as well as procedures to deliver the next generation of urological and gynecological healthcare to patients
5) Lead programs and generate new product concepts directed toward new commercial products and/or unique, functionally superior modifications of existing products
6) Supervise and develop direct reports
7) Handle all aspects of the product development cycle (from concept generation and prototyping to production as well as product release)
8) Assist with multidisciplinary tasks (product conceptualization and design to meet end user requirements, prototyping of design solutions, etc.)
9) Serve as a creative and technical resource to other sectors within the division
10) Evaluate and identify project and product risks
11) Use technical training to relate diverse technologies and to understand novel concepts/solutions of problems that may be abstract and only semi-defined
12) Develop, manage and maintain project timelines from concept through to development as well as qualification
13) Use technical engineering principles for all stages of the new product's definition, development and qualification (using Microsoft Project or other equivalent software)
14) Interface with a wide variety of specialty disciplines (end users, suppliers, consultants and members of other departments)
15) Obtain design inputs from physicians/surgeons, marketing and consultants
16) Generate and/or evaluate several new product concepts per year (to find if new products are proprietary and patentable)
Requirements
1) BS in Mechanical, Biomedical or Industrial Engineering or a related Engineering field (or equivalent experience)
2) 5+ years of experience in new product/process development with minimum 5 years in the medical device industry
3) Experience in thermoplastic/injection molding technology, plastic processing, assembly techniques and biomedical technology preferred
4) Supervisory experience a plus
5) Proficient in using computers and planning software with intermediate typing skills
6) Superb interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
7) Good questioning and problem-solving skills
8) Excellent listening and assessment skills
9) Ability to coach and build a team
10) Customer-oriented and professional individual
