Position Location
Senior Manager, Microbiology San Diego, California
Salary
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
1) Develop and implement operational, policy and procedural directives for area(s) of assigned tasks
2) Plan, initiate, implement and oversee departmental activities with a focus on attaining departmental objectives and customers' needs
3) Provide performance management, and career development for subordinate supervisory and/or technical staff
4) Review and approve study protocols, SOPs, policies, and/or analytical QC data presented by subordinates and business partners (as appropriate)
5) Coordinate with other departments and conduct investigations as an area expert for appropriate discrepancies
6) Participate with senior and executive management in the decision-making process for capital equipment expenditures and the acquisition of new technologies
7) Investigate, develop and implement new and creative ways to accomplish departmental goals in the most cost effective and productive manner while maintaining high quality standards
8) Act as Project Leader to coordinate activities between divisions and provide scientific leadership
9) Represent department during FDA and/or regulatory inspections
10) Interact with FDA inspectors and other regulatory agencies to present and defend QC data
11) Develop and administer budgets, schedules and performance requirements for department
12) Handle accountability for results in terms of costs, methods and employees
13) Develop departmental strategic staffing plans and justifications for headcount and capital equipment requests
14) Act as a liaison for QC network to leverage existing resource and provide testing service (as needed)
Requirements
1) MS or Ph. D. in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a relevant Life Science discipline
2) 12 years of industry experience including minimum 5 years in a supervisory role
3) In-depth knowledge of industrial microbiology
