About our client
Our client is a rapidly growing biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Massachusetts that is focused on the development of therapeutics for diabetes. Position Location
Research Scientist – Protein Chemistry and Purification Beverly, Massachusetts
Salary
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
1) Perform chemical modification of proteins and protein conjugates
2) Develop new protein purification methods and protocols
3) Perform quality/release testing of therapeutic agents for in-vivo experiments
4) Work with companies’ in-vivo staff to perform in-vivo efficacy/safety testing of modified/purified proteins
Requirements
1) Advanced degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Protein Engineering, Bio-engineering or a related field
2) Extensive experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
3) Experience in purification and chemical modification of proteins, polymers, vaccines or antibodies
4) Expertise in preparative scale (100 mg or more) purifications a plus
5) Experience in working in a research laboratory environment
6) Expertise in characterization of proteins via gel electrophoresis, protein sequencing, enzymatic digestion of proteins, and mass spectroscopy (LC/MS, MALDI) and analytical ultracentrifugation
7) Background in standard techniques such as multi-well plate assays, UV-VIS, liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion-exchange, gel filtration, centrifugation, ultra filtration and membrane separations
8) Ability to manipulate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
9) Good organizational skills with experience in keeping a detailed laboratory notebook
10) Ability to work in a hands-on, fast paced, start-up environment
11) Ability to work on multiple and simultaneous projects
12) US citizenship (permanent resident status)
13) Residence within commuting distance of Beverly, Massachusetts
