Position Location
Lab Manager Georgia
Salary
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
1) Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of Laboratory staff
2) Develop work performance standards
3) Schedule and assign work and develop priorities
4) Provide technical expertise (as needed or requested)
5) Establish and revise laboratory policies and procedures
6) Develop and maintain appropriate control and quality assurance procedures
7) Ensure compliance with current safety requirements
8) Coordinate laboratory activities with other state and federal agencies and entities
9) Participate in long-range planning and budgeting processes, project personnel and equipment needs
10) Develop and monitor laboratory budget
11) Approve purchase of equipment and supplies
12) Maintain current knowledge of technological advancements in public health laboratory testing, computer applications and specialized instrumentation
13) Work cooperatively with health providers and health officials, regarding the identification of chemical and biological hazards
14) Provide clients and event appropriate agencies with proper information (as appropriate)
15) Maintain confidentiality of information (as appropriate)
16) Prepare and maintain required documentation of test results
17) Record and analyze data using computer hardware and software
18) Maintain current knowledge of advances in laboratory technology, federal and state regulations
19) Attend seminars, lectures, meetings and professional conferences
20) Provide technical consultation to other laboratories and health service programs
21) Perform laboratory testing that involves complex, non-standardized innovative procedures
22) Conduct workshops sponsored by the district or (in cooperation with) state and federal agencies
23) Consult and network with other public health laboratories and agencies
24) Communicate findings to appropriate individuals and authorities as required by law and agency policy
25) Perform related duties (as assigned)
Requirements
1) College degree in Organic Chemistry (Master’s or Ph. D. preferred)
2) 2 – 5 years of experience as a Lab Manager or Director of Pre-Clinical Studies
