Position Location Research and Development Senior Scientist Provo, Utah Salary Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Responsibilities 1) Direct the scientific and technical aspects of new product development pertaining to personal care technology innovation, formulation and product claims 2) Oversee the technical foundation of global brand strategies 3) Work in a multi-discipline team environment to move products through stages of product development 4) Offer successful and innovative product/technical solutions throughout the life cycle of products by demonstrating sound and independent leadership within area of expertise 5) Represent client’s personal care science to external communities through publications as well as oral presentations at distributor events and scientific meetings 6) Search, qualify and assist in transferring new innovative technology to client’s product development teams 7) Conduct literature and patent (databases) research 8) Recommend new and innovative technologies for product brand management and evaluation 9) Design and direct the development of product formulations that support marketing strategies by incorporating innovative, effective, safe, technologies/ingredients into superior functional formulas 10) Direct product formulation process from idea to manufactured product 11) Design and complete all required formulation testing i.e. stability, safety and efficiency 12) Help the Accurate Ingredient Panel and product claims on new and existing product labels 13) Oversee technical information and legal documents necessary for the technical dossiers used in international market registration 14) Establish quality standards and inspection criteria for new and existing product formulations 15) Ensure accuracy of formulation/technical information in product specifications 16) Review and update existing products to implement new technology, improve costs, changing raw materials and meet new regulatory requirements 17) Provide up-to-date knowledge/perspective of new technologies/ingredients from journals, suppliers, technical seminars and industry conferences 18) Represent client’s research and development in public domain by providing oral presentations for distributor product seminars and scientific meetings 19) Publish appropriate market research in trade and scientific journals on a timely basis 20) Mentor fellow scientists on technical and project management issues Requirements 1) BS with 7+ years of experience/MS with 5+ years of experience/Ph. D. with 2+ years of industry experience 2) Professional presentation experience preferred 3) Knowledge of formulation in chemistry a plus 4) Good understanding of product development processes with respect to marketing, formulation and production 5) Ability to deliver commitments under pressure
